I recently made a Dead Experience DVD for a friend who wanted to get exposed to them. I fit 22 concerts on the DVD, but the ones I'm most proud to have put on there include:

2/26/77 - Swing Aud (SBD)
2/24/74 - Winterland Arena, SF (SBD)
5/11/72 - Rotterdam, Netherlands (SBD)
3/31/91 - Greensboro, NC (SBD)

I would be very happy with these 4 shows. I don't know enough about 67-71 dead however.

Top Ten?! That's a pretty tall order, but here goes; 10-12-68, 02-11-70, 10-23-70, 11-08-70, 08-06-71, 06-10-73, 12-18-73, 12-16-78, 10-15-83, 0624-84. It's all very subjective, in fact I'm sure some of my selection will have changed by the time I click send.

On the Garcia front I see Sparky999255 has already suggested 5/21/1975, so seek out 08/11/1984 which has been giving me a lot of pleasure lately.

There is no such thing as the 'top ten shows of all time' - only one person or another's personal preferences. I've got about as much chance of winning the lottery this weekend as there is of two people on the forum coming up with the same list of ten. Basically, you've got to make your own mind up.
But, just to prove I'm not a total bastard, I'll throw you this bone:
http://www.archive.org/details/gd72-05-11.sbd.ashley-bertha.7364.sbefail.shnf

A damn fine show throughout and featuring one of the most mindbending Dark Stars you are ever likely to hear. Don't listen to it in heavy traffic.

(Just noticed that smgarcia backs this show too - so there's two votes already for this one! Better get yerself a copy. And I better get myself a lottery ticket ...)

Dali - I'm just being horribly pernickety here (or however you spell that word) but is the Jerry pic definitely 5/26 at the Strand and not 5/16 at Radio Luxembourg? (I might have to change my artwork damn it...)

haha...I have weird taste, I guess. I will say that I do love 1974 in particular, but I had trouble picking one show that I LOVED enough to label top 10. Definitely 2 or 3 shows from 74 alone that would be top 20. In fact, I imagine most of spots 11-20 for me would be from 71-74.

Interesting jump from 79 to 90. I would say add at least one 80's show to your list. 9/17/83 has gotten some nice praise. I will always recommend the 5/6/81 AUD that is right here on the archive.

yeah, I'm not really a big fan of the dead post-79. There's a few shows from 80 that I really like, and then I like some stuff from 89-91. I like everything (except 94-95), but my favorites...definitely early 68-69 and the late 70s.

if it is the "top ten shows of all time" you're looking for, 90% of the informed stinky hippies on this site will reference the following shows...05-08, 06-09, 09-03-1977, 08-27-1972, 02-13-1970, 09-19-1970, 04-29-1971, 08-06-1971, 11-07-1971, 11-11-1973, 05-11-1972, 10-10-1980, 07-08-1978, 12-31-1978, 05-19-1974, 06-18-1974, 08-13-1975, 10-18-1974, 03-01-1969, 03-29-1990/09-20-1990, 05-06-1981, 08-03-1982, 09-18-1987, 07-17,18,19-1989, 10-09-1989, 04-01-1991, 05-26/27-1993, 09-22-1993 etc....

it's tough to come up with just 10...if's not a scientific enough process...we'd have to get into a defined grading scale...
